A teacher is always a second mother to his/her
learners so he/she will admire students to boost their confident level but one
thing is to keep in mind, praising ability actually make the students perform
worse, while praising effort emphasize to the possibility of change and
improve. There are so many activities to do well but the following task are
mind-blowing that I learnt during my ESL training.
There are 3 magnetic activities-
How to start IELTS preparation at home?
A-1: Warm up activity:
Warm-up activities help students feel engaged and
stimulated with the classroom environment. Beside this, they also make students
feel free to connect with each other along with building trust among them.
These activities might be continued for at least for 2 minutes so that all
present there can perform equally.
A-2: Music Video:
a. Chorus singing:
Showing a brief video related to the lesson will help students to grab
attention and stimulate discussion that must be in chorus. It will be more
helpful if you play a song that relates to the subject matter and discuss its
themes or lyrics.
b. Icebreakers: An activity, game, or event should
be played to welcome the conversation among participants in the class. Here
the starting will be finding words with “p, t, ckq” from the song played
in the class.
A-3: Speaking Practice:
a. Left
& Right-hand practice: To start the class at first divide
the students into two groups that will helps them to feel have competitors.
There can be two groups named as left and right sides or A or B groups.
b. Pair
practice: Pair practicing are mainly helpful for brainstorming
process where students will think about the given topic and share their ideas.

c. Team
vs Whole Class: To remove the boredom feeling the
practices must be held among the whole class or team based while they are
speaking. This step is mandatory for the students especially who are the
introverts.
d. Half
class vs Half class or (Boys vs Girls): Sometimes, the
participating tasks will be between the gender wise group where both boys and
girls will be in two different teams.
e. Walk
and Talk – (Speed Dating)- Teachers will move in the
classroom and let the students ask questions to another team where they will
find engage themselves and will be both physically and mentally involved with
the classroom environment. In this practice session students will be provided
questions set by the instructor.
f. Dare
to ask: The daring to ask the questions will help the students
to develop the confidence skill of presentation besides they will try to be
more careful about their accent or accuracy levels.
g. Reward:
There
is a strong correlation between self-perception and achievement. The very last
one to do is rewarding learners for their performance that will inspire them to
focus make them more efforts.
Though some others activities might be performed but
these are just awesome. If you are an instructor and going to take any speaking
class hope these will be the best among them.
